Jose Martinez powered Floydada Whirlwinds at the plate and on the rubber Wednesday, willing the Whirlwinds to a 14-2 victory over Dimmitt Bobcats.
JoseĀ Martinez racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Floydada Whirlwinds, doubling in the first inning and then singled in the second and fourth innings.
Jose Martinez handled Dimmitt Bobcats’ lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Floydada Whirlwinds‘ pitcher allowed one earned run on six hits and three walks over five innings.
Seven runs in the opening three innings allowed Floydada Whirlwinds to easily put away Dimmitt Bobcats. A two-run double by Jose Martinez, , and an RBI single by Hunter Galvan in the first inning and an RBI double by Danny Martinez and an RBI single by Jose Martinez in the second inning supplied the early offense for Floydada Whirlwinds.
Ian Rivera boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate, to pace Dimmitt Bobcats. Rivera singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
Floydada Whirlwinds ran wild on the base paths, finishing with six steals. Jose Martinez, Tyler Renfro, Danny Martinez, and Hunter Galvan each had one stolen base and Mike Cisneros had two stolen bases.
Friday, April the 6th at 12:00pm the Whirlwinds will travel to Abernathy to determine the number one position in District 2-2A.
