June 20, 2012 (Nashville, TN) – Exclusively announced yesterday by Billboard, Texas country singer/songwriter Granger Smith unveiled his hilariously unrefined alter ego, Earl Dibbles Jr., with the new single, “The Country Boy Song.” The song debuted on iTunes as New & Noteworthy.  The release was spawned from the impressive viral success of the “Earl Dibbles Jr.” YouTube video, a comical offering on the character’s country lifestyle, which has generated over 415,000 views. Smith intends to launch Dibbles with a multi-platform campaign, which includes radio, publicity, marketing and digital.

“We started doing Dibbles just for fun, but we realized quickly it really resonated with our fans,” Granger said. “Pretty soon they were urging me to create more and more Dibbles content and we’re excited to see how they react to the song and music video.”

Smith, consistently a country music favorite in and around the Texas/Red Dirt music scene, has been busy honing more than just his craft of music, as he’s created an entire empire surrounding the Earl Dibbles Jr. character that has already garnered a legion of fans.  Dibbles tweets regularly to engage over 5,300 followers, which he’s accumulated in just a few short months.

“Wake up. Put a good dip in. Crack a cold one. And start the day.” This is how Earl Dibbles Jr. begins each and every one of his days. Why? It’s simple: because he’s a country boy. And, according to Dibbles, you are, too.

“Everyone has some country boy in ‘em,” Dibbles explains. “Now I gotta go do some explorin’ in the woods. Sit on some logs. Maybe climb the windmill. Shoot the gun. And then put a good dip in.”
